NO DOUBLE STANDARDS: PAS lodges police report over newspaper's WWW1 caricatures
IPOH, -- Perak PAS Youth today lodged a police report against a Malay language newspaper for publishing two caricatures allegedly on the bidding for the WWW 1 car registration number by the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.
Its deputy head, Dr Raja Ahmad Al-Hiss, said the police had not taken any action on the matter.
"PAS Youth is disappointed that the police are only investigating (Perak PAS deputy commissioner) Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin who had allegedly tweeted on the matter," he told reporters after making the report here.
After Sultan Ibrahim had secured the car registration number with a RM520,000 bid, Mohammad Nizar tweeted that the big sum could have been used to help poor Malays in Johor buy houses.
The Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, reportedly tweeted that public funds were not used in the bid for the number.
Johor police subsequently received reports lodged against Mohammad Nizar, the former Perak menteri besar, and have launched an investigation under the Sedition Act.
