KUALA LANGAT - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak says the people cannot expect the opposition to determine their future as it practises three bad values; promises are meant to be broken, good deeds must go unappreciated and loans are not repayable.
He said the opposition resented the many assistance to the people given by Barisan Nasional (BN) and asked them not to repay loans which must (wajib) be paid according to Islamic teachings.
"Barisan Nasional can ensure a bright future for Malaysians especially those in Selangor. I believe that BN can capture Kuala Langat parliamentary seat," he said when launching the national 'Ku Sihat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti' (PDK) programme in Kg Sungai Bumbun here Saturday.
The 'Ku Sihat PDK' programme is organised by BAKTI, the Health Promotion Board and Yayasan 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
Najib said via the programme, the Ministry of Health (MOH) will visit all PDK once a week or once monthly and hopes parents of disabled children to register them.
"They (MOH) will do health checks, physiotherapy and give talks on healthcare, prevention and others. There are more than 20,000 disabled registered with 428 PDK."
The prime minister said disabled people need help and assistance so that that they could lead a life with dignity rather than asking for sympathy from others.
The government gave serious attention to the health of the people by providing 145 public hospitals, 2,800 health clinics and 103 1Malaysia People's Clinic, which would be increased by another 65 clinics.
Najib said no country which offered RM1 for general health, RM5 specialist fee and free healthcare for those above 60 and the disabled.
Through the '1MDB Jalinan Murni Yayasan' programme, 1,257 households would each receive food baskets containing milk powder, flour, Milo, sardines and vitamins.
Meanwhile, Orang Asli children and pupils of SRJK Tamil in the area were given uniforms, sports attire, note books, ledger and RM100 pocket money each.
The total assistance presented today by Yayasan 1MDB was worth RM800,000.
Najib said the Cabinet meeting yesterday allocated RM2.6 million to supply water and electricity to SMK Pulau Carey following a request from Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar, a former teacher.
He would discuss the request for a piece of residential land by the Indian community on Carey Island with the Sime Darby Group.
Present at the event were Najib's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who is Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (BAKTI) president, Noh, Information Communications and Culture minister Datuk Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim, Minister in Prime Minister's Department and MIC President Datuk G.Palanivel, Rural and Regional Development minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal and deputy finance minister and Selangor MCA chairman Datuk Donald Lim.
