KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 — PKR has said it will take disciplinary action against two party members who had allegedly abused Selangor’s “Jom Shopping” welfare scheme for senior citizens.
“PKR has been informed that the Selangor state government is investigating a complaint regarding allegations of abuse of the ‘Jom Shopping’ vouchers programme ... that involves two Kapar branch party members, namely Mohd Bakir Abdul Wahab and Mohamed Amkah Ahmad,” party’s secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said in a statement today.
Saifuddin said the party’s disciplinary committee will issue show-cause letters to the duo.
He said PKR will also suspend Mohamed Amkah’s membership until disciplinary investigations are completed, as allowed under the party’s constitution.
“PKR once again stresses that there will not be any compromise on any members who commit disciplinary offences, furthermore offences that taint the reputation and good name of the party.”
Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim is also PKR’s treasurer-general.
Khalid’s state administration launched the “Jom Shopping programme” in July last year in which RM100 shopping vouchers are given out to senior citizens to buy household items.
