Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim defended his political secretary Faekah Husin against a smear campaign, hitting out detractors and saying that stating the truth "sometimes hurts".
"In politics, there are people who feel that Faekah is quite aggressive. She is doing her duty to me, to the state and also to Pakatan (Rakyat) by explaining the truth. But sometimes, the truth hurts.
"So, I think there are people who feel that Faekah should not be too open about it. But this is in line with our policy of ketelusan - accountability and competency," Khalid told Malaysiakini when approached in Parliament today.
An online campaign by Kami Sayangkan PKR (We Love PKR) wants the fiery political secretary sacked, with the unhappiness said to arise from disbursements under Geran Selangorku, a development programme for the people of Selangor managed by Menteri Besar Incorporated.
PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, who succeeded Khalid as the state party chief, said there have been numerous complaints against Faekah, but he is keeping mum on details.
Malaysiakini reported on the internal bickering last week, with those in the know saying the complaints against Faekah were from a "disgruntled" few who considered her an "obstruction", considering her influence with Khalid.

'She is very capable'
Khalid went on to praise Faekah, saying that she performed well as political secretary.
"She is very capable, given her background as a practising lawyer. Also, she is very competent (when it comes to) land issues and very interested in joining the reformasi movement," he said.
The campaign targeted at Faekah, he said, could very well be aimed at everyone in the Menteri Besar's Office.
"(But) we have to move forward and make sure that whatever we do is correct and in line with the aspirations that we have," said Khalid, who is also the MP for Bandar Tun Razak.
Pressed on whether the campaign was to overthrow him, Khalid said: "As I see (it), politics is a dynamic exercise. We don't need to worry about it, for you are given the task that you (need to fulfil). Continue to do the job and then you will be able to reduce all this so called noises."
Khalid reiterated that as far as he was concerned, he was happy with his political secretary.
