Umno challenged to disclose RM2.71bil spending

The Selangor government has challenged Selangor Umno to disclose how it spends its RM2.71 billion federal allocations, in response to the latter’s criticism of the Geran Selangorku disbursal.

“The people of Selangor want to know how the money is spent, what are the projects and to where, and how much the actual costs are,” said Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim’s political secretary Faekah Husin.

ngo pro selangor government rally 230111 faekahFaekah issued the challenge in a press statement today, in response to Selangor BN coordinator Mohd Zin Mohamed’s accusations that she had disbursed the Geran Selangorku funds without the MB’s knowledge.

In a lengthy explanation today, Faekah said the MB had made it clear during the tabling of the budget last year that the grant was generated from the contributions of state government-linked companies (GLCs), collection of Talam Corp’s debts and the restructuring of the Canal City project.

She said the RM300 million grant is being managed by a steering committee, with Lembaga Perumahan dan Hartanah Selangor(LPHS) CEO as its chaired.

The committee also comprises the Menteri Besar Corporation (MBI) chief administrator, the engineer and valuer from the Public Works Department, State Economic Planning Unit officers, accountants and independent engineers appointed by the MB.

“All projects submitted to the committee are to be projected by the local reps, the District Land Office (PTD), the local authority (LA) and the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK),” she said.

“Through Geran Selangorku, we have approved 362 projects in the form of small and medium development such as improving drainage, paving roads and building flyovers across Selangor including in BN-held areas,” she said.

She said information on these projects are available and the state has been keeping the media posted on the progress.

“Mohd Zin or any Umno member who still fails to understand the issue can pay a visit to the MBI so that a special briefing session can be done to them,” she said sarcastically.
