INSPECT.... Edward and Robert inspect the unfinished drain.
A KEPAYAN resident contacted Sabah DAP Local Government and Housing Bureau chief, Edward Ewol Muji to convey his frustration in regards to a drain fronting the Prison Department that was constructed some years ago, but whether the drain is really completed is questionable. This is because the drain just ‘stopped’ being constructed half way, and there was no finishing touch or an end to the drain.
According to the resident here, whenever it rains, the water flowing from the drain will flow over to the walkway. There are times when there is a heavy downpour, the water will also spill to the road thus making motorist having difficulty in maneuvering their vehicle.
The people wonder why such ‘half-hearted’ design and workmanship done by the contractor, and why the contractor is not able to finish the job nicely. Some questions also being asked on why the relevant authority seem to turn ‘blind’ on the drain.
Edward urged the authority overseeing the construction of the drain will ‘buck-up’ and ensure that the contractors undertaking the work will do their job diligently and ensure completion of the work before being paid.
In view of this, Sabah DAP also hope that the authority concerned will oversee areas where there were a lot of complaints from various housing residents pertaining to non-maintenance of drains, uncompleted drains and drains get clogged especially when cut grass are not collected and this grass will fall into the drains and the debris felt into the drains also caused blockage. - Sabahkini
