Single parent who remarries to get RM2,000 aid

KUALA TERENGGANU, Dec 13 – Effective next year, single parent who remarries will receive aid of RM2,000 each from the state government, the Terengganu State Assembly was told today.

State Welfare, Community Development and Women Committee Chairman Yahaya Khatib Mohamad said the aid would be provided as part of the state government’s initiative to encourage single parents to remarry and start a fresh life with their new partners.

He said that based on statistics, there were currently 21,838 single mothers and 2,890 single fathers in Terengganu.

The state government has allocated RM20 million for implementation of various programmes for single parents next year. – Bernama
