Prime Minister Najib Razak has been urged to take legal action against businessman Deepak Jaikishan, who has been detailing how the UMNO president and his wife Rosmah Mansor were involved in the controversial retraction of a statutory declaration linked to the murder of Mongolian citizen Altantuya Shaaribuu.
PAS vice president Mahfuz Omar said Najib must act because the allegations had severely tarnished the country's image.
“The people are waiting to see Najib’s courage to take legal action against Deepak. They cannot accept a leader burdened with such personal problems if indeed Deepak’s allegations were true,” he said.
Mahfuz said Najib should emulate former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission adviser Robert Phang who recently took former Inspector General of Police Musa Hassan to court for slander.
Earlier, PAS information chief Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man urged Najib to clear the air by breaking his silence following Deepak's interviews with several online news portals including Harakahdaily.
