Khalid is new IGP, Bakri appointed deputy
Current deputy inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar will be promoted to take over the police force’s top job.
This follows the compulsory retirement of current inspector-general of police Ismail Omar.
According to national new agency Bernama, Khalid’s promotion to inspector-general of police was announced by the Prime Minister’s Office today.
Meanwhile, federal Criminal Investigation Department chief Mohd Bakri Zinin (left) will fill the post of deputy inspector-general of police.
The appointments will take effect on Friday, May 17.
Ismail, who turns 60 tomorrow, was the ninth inspector-general of police and was appointed to the position in 2010.
