Nurul's travel ban in Sabah lifted, say Sabah cops

The ban on PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar from entering Sabah has been lifted, according to Sabah police commissioner Hamza Taib.

According to Astro Awani, Hamza also said that aside from Nurul Izzah, no other politicians have been banned from entering the state.

However, no reason was provided for Nurul Izzah's ban from entering Sabah in the first place.

NONE"As far as the police are concerned, we know that there are no other individuals banned except for Nurul. But her ban had been listed," he was quoted as saying by Astro Awani.

Hamza (right) was further quoted as saying that there is no problem for any other leader to enter the state, so long as they abide by the law.

The lifting of the ban comes a day after Sabah state assembly deputy speaker Johny Mositun said that Nurul Izzah, who is also Lembah Pantai MP, had only been barred for a day.

In a statement today, Penampang MP Darell Leiking said Johny's remarks that the ban was only for a day indicated that the latter was privy to the circumstances behind Nurul Izzah's banning.

As such, Darell urged Johny to explain the real reasons behind the move.

"His (Johny) verification will be of great help for us to find out and to get to the bottom of the facts, as there are many speculations as to why Nurul Izzah was denied entry and deported from Sabah," he added.
