
National laureate A Samad Said has been detained and taken to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters late last night.
Samad told Malaysiakini that the police wanted to record his statement.
"I was just arrested and am on my way to the Dang Wangi police station," he had said when contacted by Malaysiakini.
The national laureate was sought by the police in connection with the flying of the "Sang Saka Malaya" flag at a Merdeka event last week.

He was released at 2.30am after his statement was recorded by the police.
Prior to this, the police had arrested activists Hishammuddin Rais (left in photo) and Adam Adli under the Sedition Act in connection with the same incident.
