Malacca DAP chief alluded that his resignation was due to two other state DAP elected reps.
He, however, kept his post as state DAP chairman and Duyong state assemblyman.
When asked why he resigned, he told Bernama: “Ask the Kota Laksamana and Ayer Keroh assemblymen (ADUN) why I stepped down.”
The two DAP members who had criticised his leadership were Kota Laksamana assemblyman Lai Keun Ban and Ayer Keroh asemblyman Khoo Poay Tiong.
Earlier, an English-language newspaper had reported that he resigned in protest over what he saw as interference by the central leadership in local issues which had caused a split in the Malacca DAP.
DAP is also facing problems in Kedah.
