Certain quarters have alleged the usage of the word Allah by other religions will create confusion among Muslims.
“The question is does it really cause confusion?
What’s interesting is the allegation by certain quarters solely for the purpose of frightening the Malays that if Christians use the word Allah, the Muslims will be confused. Shouldn’t the confusion be among the Christians instead?” questioned PAS information chief Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man in a Facebook posting today.
In fact, Tuan Ibrahim said the government’s concern that the usage of the word Allah by other religions would confuse the Muslims has on the other hand, exposed its failure to uplift the Islamic understanding among Muslims.
To preserve harmony between races, the Pahang PAS commissioner said the intellectual discourse on the word Allah should be held among politicians and scholars.
“A total solution must be sought to prevent this issue from being taken advantage by extremists to break the unity between Malaysians solely for political gain,” Tuan Ibrahim added.
He also lashed at the extremists who provided illogical reasons to defend Allah’s name saying it had instead tarnished the good name of Islam, Muslims and also Allah as the arguments presented were not done based on sufficient intellectual researches.
Yesterday, Pakatan Rakyat had declared their stand on the Allah issue remained as what stated in their previous statements. It also agreed with PAS President Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang’s stand on the matter.
