'Najib misled Parliament on Bangladeshi voter allegation'

Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim today accused Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak of misleading the Dewan Rakyat by claiming that the opposition had made an allegation about 40,000 Bangladeshi foreign workers being registered as voters in the country.

In a brief press conference in the Parliament lobby today, Anwar said his team has checked and determined that the opposition never made such an allegation.

“We spoke about foreign voters and voters bring flown in. But never about 40,000 Bangladeshis being registered by the Election Commission,” he said.

“These allegations were actually created in pro-Umno blogs,” Anwar added.

Najib stated the allegation, which he said was made by the Opposition, in his Budget speech and went on to laugh it off while asking those who made the allegation to “repent”.
