Black 505: Two PKR Youth leaders plead guilty
Two PKR Youth leaders have reportedly been fined RM1,900 each at the Kuala Lumpur Session's Court today after admitting to participating in the Black 505 rally at a restricted area in June.
Utusan Malaysia reported in its online edition today that Justice Mat Ghani Abdullah had meted out the sentence on Youth vice-chief Mohd Nazree Yunus and Terengganu chief Mohd Al Faizal Amjed.
They were among several student activists and PKR Youth leaders chargedunder Section 4(2)(b) of the Peaceful Assembly Act (PAA) for illegal gathering at the Ar-Rahman mosque near Universiti Malaya on June 22.
The mosque was one of seven gathering points for rally supporters around the city before moving on to Padang Merbok for the main event.
The duo’s charges are also part of a larger nationwide crackdown Blackout 505 series of rallies, which saw over 40 people charged for various offences under the PAA.
Among the prominent figures still facing trial for their involvement in the rally are Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli and Seremban MP Anthony Loke, both of whom were charged for organising the rally without approval.
The rallies were held to protest alleged irregularities in the May 5 general election.
