Archbishop Emeritus Murphy Pakiam (pic) was being rude and insulting towards Islam for expressing regrets that Datuk Seri Najib Razak failed to display traits of a Catholic school student, said Malay non-governmental organisation Pertubuhan Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma).
Isma president Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman said the prime minister was just defending the use of the word Allah for Muslims.
"Pakiam's statement is rude and insulting. It is an insult to an Islamic leader.
"We understand his meaning. He wanted to say that as a student who studied in a Catholic school, Najib should support the Christians in their bid to use the word Allah," he said in a statement today.
On Christmas Day, Pakiam had urged Najib to cement his own call for an end to Muslim-Christian hostility by withdrawing Putrajaya’s legal challenge against the Catholic Church’s use of Allah.
The Archbishop, retired recently and now administrator of the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur, made the call in response to Najib’s speech at the National Christmas Open House in George Town, Penang when he called on followers of the two faiths to set aside their differences and seek common ground.
"What did he say? Even if the world talks and laughs about this Allah issue, Malaysia will not allow (its use by non-Muslims), we (government) will defend the exclusivity of its use.
"This is not a man who was educated in our Catholic school. By talking like that, you are just a bickering politician. I am praying that Allah will enlighten him to become a statesman, " the Malaysiakini news portal quoted Pakiam as saying.
Najib was educated at St John's Institution in Kuala Lumpur.
Abdullah Zaik said Pakiam's statement seemed to look down on Najib as a responsible Malay Islamic leader.
"Pakiam needs to be clear that as a leader, Najib needed to bring and uphold the struggles of the race, religion and nation," he added. - TMI
insulting to islam?? ptuikkk.. penganut agama lain selain islam lah yang selalu ditindas, dicaci, diejek. di provoke dan sebagainya.. kononnya islam lah yang paling sempurna dan layak menggunakan kalimah Allah.. tapi penganutnya jugalah yang paling banyak buat dosa..
ReplyDeletebangsa lain yang beragama islam boleh hidup aman damai dengan bangsa yang terdiri dari agama lain termasuk kristian.. tapi bangsa Melayu, hampeh mcm pantat.. konon pertahankan itu ini, tapi rasuah, zina, merompak, merogol dsbnya tak habis2..
