Former IGP Mohamad Hanif Omar, whilst addressing HRH the Sultan of Selangor hit out at those who touches on ‘taboo issues’ inappropriately.
He pinned the blame squarely on the ‘alternative media phenomenon’, which according to him has eroded the sanctity of the Royal institution and Islam and have caused Malaysians nowadays to question the special position of Bumiputeras.
He spoke as if the questioning of Royalty and Malay special position was a new pandemic that has broken out only recently and that there has never been a debate on these so called ‘taboo issues’.
That is total and utter rubbish and furthermore, a disgusting insult to all Malaysians’ intelligence and memory.
Truly a Malay who forgets easily?
It was his former boss, Tun Mahathir, who in 1965, in Parliament openly questioned and critiqued the Federal constitution by saying article 153 brings shame to the Malays.
The following is lifted directly from the Parliamentary Hansard, 11/08/1965 pages 41-43.
I do not believe, I say it again do not believe with the existence, with the writing-in to the constitution or Malay rights, it will bring good to the Malay people.
And one day, we will throw away altogether, Malay special rights. I understand that it is written in the constitution, but even now it is an insult to the Malay people.
Mahathir himself questioned the special position of the Malays
“I feel very sad when I hear Malays talk about Ketuanan Melayu. Apparently, there is Malay reserve land because we are Tuan. But to have to live in a Malay reserve is an insult because that means I’m so weak that I’m to be protected in my own country. It is not something to be proud of.”
No prizes for guessing that these came out of the lips of Tun Mahathir on June the 6th 2011 during his address to the National Professors’ Congress, but full marks given to the Tun for staying consistent to his anti-Malay special rights, and anti-constitution stance, especially article 153.
Stripped the Rulers of immunity
Exploiting Barisan’s two thirds majority in Parliament, Mahathir not once, bit twice masterminded constitutional amendments not only to undermine the monarchical system, but systematically and surgically usurp what was previously royal prerogative.
If there was ever a proponent for treason and the questioning of the Royal Institution, UMNO would top the chart without a shadow of a doubt. The ‘alternative media phenomenon’ wouldn’t even come close to qualifying.
Grand design
The BN government’s penchant for misappropriation of funds, nepotistic enrichment of their cronies at the expense of the average working Malaysia, and the repeated racist and ridiculous calls to punish those who don’t support them are but some telling signs that supports his observation.
We hereby invite the former IGP to retract his misleading, inaccurate accusations in his address afore HRH the Sultan of Selangor, which in itself is an insult to HRH the Sultan which calls for an immediate apology.
We furthermore challenge him to support our proven claim above, since he is so passionate about upholding Malay rights and the Royal institution, that Mahathir and UMNO is indeed the master architect of the alleged ‘grand design’ that is very successfully leading the nation towards oblivion.
