Rafizi: Thanks AG, but only full disclosure will do

PKR MP Rafizi Ramli will accept attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail's offer to peruse his bank accounts but has demanded to see everything.
This was in response to Patail's offer to reveal his bank balances, after Rafizi, who is also PKR's director of strategy, had cast doubt about the AG based on ex-CID chief Mat Zain Ibrahim's statutory declaration that money changed hands in the controversial Pulau Batu Puteh trial in 2008.
Mat Zain’s controversial SD had quoted senior lawyer Muhammed Shafee Abdullah as saying this, but the lawyer has since filed an affidavit challenging Mat Zain's credibility.

In retaliation, Mat Zain has filed a police report against Shafee for allegedly making a false statement in his affidavit. Police have said that they would investigate the matter.

The PKR director of strategy said he will write a letter to the AG today and will wait for his response.

“If he accepts, I can come personally and collect the permission letters from him whenever he chooses,” Rafizi said.

He added that after scrutinising AG Patail’s bank accounts in Malaysia and Hong Kong and if no big transactions or balances were found during the period in question, then Shafee will need to apologise to the AG.
