Wanita Umno chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil has dismissed talks of possible dialogues between party president Najib Abdul Razak and opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim
"I think it would be a waste of time for Najib to meet Anwar, as there are many things the PM could do," she told reporters at the sidelines of the Umno general assembly.
She was quizzed by reporters on Anwar's offer for a dialogue after Najib extended an olive branch to other political parties on the possibility of joint talks during his speech.
"Even though we are slandered, taunted, this party has never gotten tired of extending an unity handshake with any political party in order to see Muslims unite once again," the Umno president had said.
Today, Anwar in a statement welcomed the move by Najib, saying Pakatan Rakyat leaders are open for a dialogue.
Do not underestimate makciks
Shahrizat was also asked about the strength of Wanita in countering the threat posed by the opposition who are using the social media.
"Do not underestimate the makciks in Wanita Umno as we are more powerful then DAP’s Red Bean (cyber) army. We have the power of persuasion and are always going to the ground to help the people," she said.
However, she admitted that the social media is an important tool and the movement and party will work towards utilising the medium.
