Train jumps track between Merapoh and Chegar Perah
Several sectors of the East Coast KTM Intercity train services were disrupted when one of the 10 coaches from a passenger train with 437 passengers jumped track at Km274 between Merapoh and Chegar Perah, last night.
No injuries were reported in the 11pm incident when the number 29 Express Wau which was on its way to Kuala Lumpur from Tumpat derailed, said Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) Berhad in a statement today.
“The derailed coach had been moved and work to repair the track is under way and expected to be completed late this evening,” said the statement.
The statement said the affected KTM Intercity Trains were number 29 Senandung Wau (Tumpat-Kuala Lumpur), number 28 Senandung Wau (Kuala Lumpur-Tumpat), number 27 Senandung Timuran (Tumpat-Woodlands) and number 26 (Senandung Timuran (Woodlands-Tumpat).
The statement said the services of the number 83 Tumpat-Gua Musang Shuttle train and number 84 Gua Musang-Tumpat Shuttle train were also cancelled.
“Passengers will be fully reimbursed for the cancelled services or change their date of travel,” said KTM, which apologised for the inconvenience faced by passengers.
