The police and Malaysian Communications And Multimedia Commission (MCMC) have been urged to take action against Facebook users going by the names of Man Namblast and Mohamed Hidayat over postings that were insensitive to the Hindu community.
Gerakan's National Youth Unity Bureau chief V Prabagaran said in reply to the post, other users had also made comments which insulted the recent Thaipusam celebration.
Such matters, if not curbed early, could threaten unity and harmony between races and religions in the country, he said after lodging a report on the matter at the Sentul Police Headquarters together with the party's Bukit Bintang division Complaints Bureau chief, Sim Kai Siong, this morning.
Meanwhile, according to a statement from Gombak Police Chief ACP Abd Rahim Abdullah in the Selangor Police Facebook page yesterday, the force was seeking the owner of the Man Namblast Facebook account and had opened an investigation paper under Section 4(1)(a) of the Sedition Act 1948.
