It is so unbelievable and shocking that another abduction incident occurred at a fish farm at Pulau Baik, Lahad Datu yesterday.
The nation was already shocked that another kidnapping incident occurred at Semporna on April 2, just a few months after last year’s incident where there was a murder of a Taiwanese tourist and the kidnapping of his wife at Pom Pom Island off Sabah.
In last month’s incident, a Chinese tourist Gao Gua and a Filipino employee were abducted from a resort in Semporna.
What will be the federal government’s excuses for this latest incident? What new assurances will be provided?
The Prime Minister who once said that the era the government knows best is over should know what people are saying on the ground.
If he really listens, he will definitely hear three questions which Sabahans have been and are talking about.
Firstly, can ESSCOM really provide the safety?
Secondly, can we trust the Government’s assurances?
Thirdly, will heads roll for the latest security breach?
I certainly do not think that the government has been listening and the Prime Minister is still behaving as if the government knows best.
In my satirical video titled “Onederful Malaysia”, I have highlighted the people’s concern about Sabah security following last year’s murder of a Taiwanese tourist and the kidnapping of his wife at Pom Pom Island off Sabah.
Often times a frustrated person will express his feelings and views in the form of jokes or satire, and I have reflected the people’s frustration in the way many Sabahans had expressed their frustrations – in the form of jokes and satire.
A sensitive and responsible government which truly listens to the people would have taken my video message seriously and try to resolve the people’s concern.
Instead the government has done what is unacceptable, invoking the draconian and outdated Sedition Act against me.
Nevertheless, with yesterday’s incident which has again shocked the nation, the Prime Ministers should answer the most important question Sabahans are now asking —can they trust the government’s assurances on Sabah security?
