DAP Seri Delima assemblyperson RSN Rayer has lashed out at the Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia for describing him as a "toilet bowl".
The rep came under fire in a column penned by Awang Selamat in response to Rayer's statement that Umno leaders are celaka (damned).
"If I am a toilet bowl, then Utusan is a toilet paper," said Rayer when met outside the SMJK Chung Hwa in Island Park today.
Rayer's remark prompted Umno Youth to launch a series of protests, ranging from storming the Penang state assembly building to threatening to torch the DAP headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
The state assemblyperson has refused to apologise.
'Utusan not for the educated'
Meanwhile, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng likened Utusan to a Nazi publication which practices double standard.
"We can just ignore it. It is not a paper meant for people who are educated," he said when met at the same venue.
"It is meant for racists and extremists only," he added.
Lim was commenting on the newspaper's latest attack on DAP, accusing the party of being the most racist party in Malaysia.
The DAP secretary-general said he has nothing against Utusan’s reporters but the editors.
He recalled filing suits against Utusan where the newspapers had been asked to apologise and pay compensation money to DAP.
"They have done it many times. We won many times and they paid many times.
"They will continue this but do we want to give credence to what Utusan says?" he asked.
