Can someone please tell me what is happening?
I can’t help but start musing at what I see, read and observe every day in the news.
If not, my guess is as good as everyone else’s on why suddenly Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (ISMA) president, Ustaz Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman came into prominence with all his ranting against Christianity and the Chinese community?
And, why, despite being reprimanded by Dr Mahahtir Mohamad, Zaik is ‘oblivious’?
Both UMNO offshoots tasked to do its dirty work
It appears to me that all this while, both ISMA and PERKASA have been doing an outsourced job so as to help achieve the same objectives of capturing Selangor State.
Although we know that UMNO has been playing on the racial card, is this a way to divert people from its own weaknesses, so that the organisation can continue to look good and ‘rejuvenated’ (words to the effect by UMNO president, Najb Abdul Razak).
It appears to me that, over the raid of the Bible Society of Malaysia, UMNO has earned a bad name even in Sabah and Sarawak, because suddenly the people there are talking about the four-letter word there. People are telling me that even the Christian politicians there are ‘shaky’, when their grassroots are showing discontentment over the number of issues relating to the church.
People knew who is to blame, although ironically, some people are intentionally using the BSM raid to whack the Selangor Government, when it has been stated very clearly that neither the Menteri Besar of Selangor nor his State Exco in charge of Islamic affairs had ordered the raid.
They have not gone after the Attorney General’s office on matters pertaining to the law and the Selangor Islamic Council which has the direct power from the Sultan of Selangor over the unfortunate agency, JAIS which raided the BSM. Few people realise that, although JAIS is a state agency, it is nonetheless just a dotted line to the Menteri Besar of Selangor.
Since this smear campaign against the Selangor State Exco was not successful, the trick now is for UMNO to use one of its own offshoot as the punching bag for everyone. For this reason why ISMA was prepared to get all the brunts on behalf of UMNO. Is this true or not that you just want all the blame for the sins done against the Christian church to fall on ISMA, instead of UMNO?
After all, UMNO will be involved in the 14th General Election, but not ISMA or PERKASA! Does this sound sensible?
Making Dr M look good, Umno seem 'rational' compared to hudud-bent PAS
I wonder if this is the case, because what I read and what I observe, appears to suggest just that. For this reason, out of the blue, Dr Mahathir Mohamad reprimanded the ISMA chief, yet his reprimand went unheeded.
Mahathir appears to look good, but ISMA looks bad. After all, few of know what is the undercurrent – and whether ISMA has been paid a big amount for being willing to bear the brunt on behalf of UMNO.
Just take note of this sentence from a politician from East Malaysia: “Isma consists of people who don't understand the social and religious fabric of Malaysia, especially in Sarawak and hence, they tend to make silly mistakes and make ridiculous pronouncements on Islam.”
Does this confirm my observations?
Here again is another observation: The Inspector General of Police (IGP), who is usually slow in taking actions against anyone linked to UMNO, also promised that the police would investigate ISMA chief for sedition. Well, could this be just part of the drama?
This is something for us to watch, because it is the only way to win back the people. At least, for now!
Meanwhile, sit back and watch the drama unfolding!
I hope I am wrong, but chances are high that I may be right. - MAILBAG
