Now BN even subcontracts poll candidates

YOURSAY 'They have already privatised racism to Perkasa and Isma.'

Ramkarpal to battle 3 independents in Bkt Gelugor

Tholu: The Election Commission (EC) urging voters to vote at different times during polling day in the Bukit Gelugor by-election to avoid congestion appears to have been made with a dishonourable and sinister motive.

The EC had consistently been advising voters not to postpone voting to the afternoon to avoid possible heavy tropical downpours, which is a common phenomenon in Malaysia.

This is the first time I have heard the EC giving this advice to vote later. Is this first-time-ever advice to the voters by the EC a coincidence with the BN’s first-time-ever stay-out decision in a by-election?

The ominous motive of the EC in making this statement, in my opinion, is so that voters will be hindered from voting in the afternoon due to possible heavy rain.

With a low percentage of voter turnout, the votes for DAP would take a dip and BN would be saved an ignominious humiliation. BN will afterwards craftily say that this shows support for DAP is declining.

Multi Racial: Ramkarpal Singh of DAP will win the seat hands down. Whoever contests will lose their deposit. DAP politics, which focuses on multiracialism and fairness, is becoming very popular among Malaysians.

Meanwhile Umno, MCA and MIC's race-based politics are becoming obsolete. It is simple - one unites the country and the other divides the country. So which one would you choose?

Ferdtan: One very significant point to note at this nomination is the presence of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to support DAP’s candidate - it is very welcoming in light of recent fallout with its coalition partner due to the hudud controversy.

If I am not mistaken, he didn’t attend the nomination in the last Kajang by election when PKR was contesting. Today's is a huge gesture from PAS president. It shows that attempts are being made to show solidarity within the Pakatan Rakyat coalition.

More visible steps must be made to repair the damage done between the partners in the coalition.

Apapunboleh: We have a Sikh who dares to represent the Chinese majority while a Chinese party has chickened out. MCA is already a disgrace to the Chinese, but this takes the cake.

Don't Just Talk: It is a slap on former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad's face, for never in the history of Malaysian politics has the BN parties under Umno Baru has failed to field any candidate for any by-election, more so in an urban area.

What has happened to the Umno Youth leader Khairy Jamalluddin's battle cry, "Lawan tetap lawan"? Penang voters should make sure that all the Independent candidates lose their deposit.

Spinnot: So which one is the 'Ayam' brand Independent put up by BN?

Ong: "Who is this BN-friendly candidate?" Silly question. Given enough incentive, anyone of the Independents will die to be BN friendly.

Swipenter: These BN-friendly candidates are put there to whittle the limited resources of Pakatan, especially DAP.

I suppose it is cheaper to feed these Independent BN-friendly candidates with crumbs than for BN to contest and offer election goodies to the residents of Bukit Gelugor.

Wandering Star: If there is going to be a fairer bet, take the total of all votes gathered by the Independent candidates against Ramkarpal, and see whether they still lose their deposit.

Umno-BN chickened out because there is a possibility they would lose their deposit too if they had contested.

Anonymous$&@?: I hope the voters send a clear message to BN, make these Independent and Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) candidates (most likely Umno-linked) lose their deposits big time.

Send a message to this minority government: we the rakyat want this country back. Return our rights and independence.

'Parti Cari Makan' is BN proxy, says Azmin

Continue-The-March: This is exactly Umno Baru-BN's strategy. They have privatised the racism baiting to Perkasa and Isma and the justice system to cronies.

Now they are privatising election candidates to those outside of BN when they cannot win, for example in this Bukit Gelugor by-election, or in Shah Alam and Pasir Mas in the last general election.

Homesick: PCM vice-president Huan Cheng Guan, for your information for candidates to shake hands and hug BN people does not necessarily mean one is BN-friendly. It means that it is not personal.

One must be able to differentiate and separate politics from being personal. That's the trouble with all these 'cari makan' mickey mouse parties - they all have personal agendas.

N H Gong: It's better to lose face than to lose one's deposit, since the deposit is worth more than the face anyway. -Mkini
