TIME-WARPED BN: Gerakan the next to use Dyana's YOUTH to attack her

TIME-WARPED BN: Gerakan the next to use Dyana's YOUTH to attack her
PETALING JAYA - Gerakan national advisor Datuk Chang Ko Youn said it was unfair for the Opposition party to have chosen a novice to contest the Teluk Intan by-election.
Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud was chosen to solve the internal squabble within the party, and not because of the interest and welfare of the people here, he told the press at Gerakan's operation centre here today.
Chang also claimed that DAP's choice showed their "arrogance" in fielding an outsider "who doesn't understand issues which are faced daily by the people here".
He said if the DAP wanted to groom Dyana (as a potential politician), they had other avenues in Penang or Selangor where she could be appointed a councillor or senator.
"Let her work for the next three to four years, only then it'll be fair to her," he said, adding that DAP was banking on the 85% Chinese votes they got in the 13th general election.
He said this by-election was about choosing someone who could bring progress to the constituency and who has a close relationship with both the state and federal governments.

On claims by DAP that Gerakan president Datuk Mah Siew Keong would be made a senator should he lose in the by-election, he said Barisan Nasional's policy states that whoever loses, especially in a by-election, cannot become a senator.
He also said Mah has stressed repeatedly that he would not take up a senator's role.
He was responding to claims by several DAP leaders during a ceramah held near its operation centre here on Monday that Mah would be going through the "back door" to gain a ministerial post by becoming a senator should he lose in the May 31 polls. -Sundaily
