The show-cause letter for Umno member Yammy Samat is yet to be served because it was sent to the wrong address, Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has revealed.
Yammy was asked to explain why she should not be suspended or sacked from the party for throwing her weight behind her daughter Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud, the DAP candidate who contestedagainst BN’s Mah Siew Keong in the Teluk Intan by-election on May 31.
“I just realised that the letter was returned because the address in the members’ list is wrong. If we can get the new address, we will send it again,” Tengku Adnan (right) told reporters yesterday.
He said the clock for the 14-day deadline for Yammy to provide her reply would start when the new letter is sent.
On another matter, Tengku Adnan, who is also federal territories minister, have his assurance that the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will respect the court injunction granted to the residents of Kampung Chubadak Tambahan, Sentul.
This is despite the mayor’s statement that the demolition will proceed.
“We will respect the injunction. We shall hold until the time comes,” he said.
Kg Chubadak to be graveyard
However, he insisted that the “illegal squatters” must vacate the land because it is privately owned.
The owner intends to give the land to Islamic religious authorities to convert it into a cemetery, he added.
Tengku Adnan also denied that the demolition was done without prior notice, and claimed that many notices were previously issued.
He said the government was also providing those being evicted with alternative housing.
“The problem is the residents are asking us to provide them the same place that they are staying now, which is impossible. We can only offer apartments or flats, so we are still negotiating with them,” he said.
DBKL officers had clashed with residents on June 9 and demolished two houses, but PAS lawyer Ahmad Zamri Asaád Khuzaimi later obtained an injunction to stop the demolition of 58 houses.
The injunction expires on June 26.
Damai Kiaramas fails to deliver
In an unrelated case, when asked about another court injunction against him for allegedly breaching a contract, Tengku Adnan appeared unfazed.
He said developer Damai Kiaramas Sdn Bhd, which has sought the injunction, could not deliver on its contractual agreement, and therefore it was dropped from a joint venture in favour of another company.
“Basically these people could not perform, so when they cannot perform, the board decided to give the joint venture (with Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan) to other company.
Yesterday, a group of entrepreneurs from Damai Kiaramas obtained an ex-parte injunction against Tengku Adnan from the High Court in Kuala Lumpur.
Damai Kiarama claimed it had met all of the Federal Territories Ministry’s requirements and was supposed to develop a five-hectare plot in Bukit Kiara, in partnership with Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan.
However, it was dropped from the project in favour of another company, the Pavilion group-owned Memang Perkasa Sdn Bhd.
