TAMPIN - A teenager who was having sex with an underage girl was caught red-handed by the girl's parents and several villagers at a Felda settlement, here, on Sunday.
The incident happened about 10pm when the parents went to check on their 15-year-old daughter, after several villagers spotted a motorcycle parked near their house.
District police chief Superintendent Wooi Kooi Cheang said the parents were shocked after they saw their daughter being raped by the 19-year-old odd job worker.
"With the help of the villagers, they apprehended the suspect, who also lived in the same village.
"The parents then brought the suspect to Gemencheh police station, and lodged a report on the incident," he said.
Initial investigations revealed that the victim made friend with the suspect through Facebook about three months ago.
Wooi said the case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
The suspect was being remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations, while the victim was sent to the Tampin Hospital here for medical checks.
Under the Malaysian law, a man is said to have commit rape if he has sexual intercourse with a woman under the age 16, either with or without her consent. -NST
