davidorok300KOTA KINABALU: The Attorney General has lined up 26 witnesses to testify against a Sabah politician, David Orok, who was charged in the Sessions Court on Wednesday with sedition.
Senior Federal Counsel Jamil Aripin gave the figure to Judge Ummu Kalthom.
David, who claimed trial, is accused of posting a statement about two months ago on Facebook in which he allegedly insulted Prophet Mohd and Islam.
He was charged under Section 4 (1) (c) of the Sedition Act 1948 which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 for the first offence and a maximum jail term of three years for subsequent offences.
The unrepresented David, who was released on RM7,000 bail, had to surrender his international passport to the Court and has to report to the Tuaran police station once a week until the trial.
No date was fixed for the trial.
David, a member of the State Reform Party (Star) Sabah, contested the Sulaman state seat in the 13th General Election last year.
