SADLY, IT'S ALL ABOUT GOODIES OFFERED: 'Doomsday for PAS if it works with Umno'

SADLY, IT'S ALL ABOUT GOODIES OFFERED: 'Doomsday for PAS if it works with Umno'
Without mincing words, a PAS leader has warned that if the Islamic party joins hands with its arch rival Umno, it will be tantamount to sounding the death knell.
"It is plausible for PAS to leave Pakatan Rakyat but it will be ‘kiamat’ (doomsday) if PAS joins hands with Umno," said central committee member Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.
He said it is "never ever possible" to work with Umno or any of the Malay supremacist Islamist blocs as it is "not the way for this nation to develop".
"It goes against the cardinal principle of governance and government as mentioned in the Quran, for which PAS has stood for all along.
“(Working with Umno) will be like the doomsday has come," he told Malaysiakini.
Dzulkefly also said if PAS decides to withdraw from Pakatan, those who do not agree with party president Abdul Hadi Awang would "grudgingly drag their feet out of Pakatan" but on the condition that "we will walk with him (Hadi) only if that position is endorsed by the muktamar (annual delegates' conference)".
PAS is now divided after the ulama faction along with Hadi threw their weight behind Khalid Ibrahim to retain him as the menteri besar of Selangor and then retracting their support amid news of a possible unity government with Umno.
PAS ulama faction and Hadi also refused to endorse PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the MB despite agreeing to this at an earlier meeting between the three parties in Pakatan.
Precarious position
However, PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali said the party has submitted three names to the palace, two from PKR and one from PAS.
This contradicts the stand of PKR and DAP to only nominate Wan Azizah for the post.
Meanwhile, Dzulkefly said PAS is now in a precarious position as people from the party have been making statements with "personal delusions".
"There have been greenhorns coming out of nowhere hijacking the trajectory of what has been agreed by the muktamar," he added.
He said the question now is who speaks for PAS.
"Who will PAS listen to - the presidential speech, the greenhorns who are hijackers because they want Malay supremacy or the consensus of the muktamar?" he added.
PAS will be holding its annual muktamar in two weeks' time in Johor. -M'kini
