But she added she respected his views and urged all not to respond to his comments, and instead focus on protecting the interests of the people.
"I was slightly hurt by the personal attacks against me even though I respect Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang's opinion of my abilities and capabilities.
"Thus, I advise all to no longer respond to the statement made by Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang. Our focus should be on protecting the people from the actions of Umno/Barisan Nasional."
On Friday, Hadi told a briefing for PAS members in Terengganu that the party's decision not to pick Dr Wan Azizah as the next Selangor MB had nothing to do with her gender, but her capability as a leader because Selangor needed a strong leader.
He said a menteri besar should fulfil certain criteria to be qualified for such a position.
"If she doesn't have the ability to debate questions in Parliament or the state legislative assembly, how would she make a strong leader?
"This cannot be the case. And, based on those criteria, she is not qualified."
His comments prompted PKR Wanita information chief Azura Aziz to label the PAS president a "chauvinist" who had betrayed his allies' trust.
Selangor DAP vice-president Teng Chang Khim also belittled Hadi's own track record as a menteri besar and party president.
However, Dr Wan Azizah today extended her gratitude to Hadi and his family for helping her since 1999.
"I pray that Hadi lives a long life and that Allah helps our battle and gives us victory," she said.
She added that any developing and maturing society would continue to face a variety of tests, and the "recent political developments" was part of the process.
Today, the Sultan of Selangor expressed disappointment over PKR and DAP for not heeding the ruler's request to submit more than two names for the menteri besar position.
"The Selangor Sultan is extremely disappointed by the actions of DAP and PKR in disobeying the decree he made on August 27, 2014.
"DAP and PKR's actions reflect their insolence towards the royal institution and is treason towards the Selangor Sultan," said the statement issued by the Sultan's private secretary, Datuk Munir Bani.
It said Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah had decreed that each party within Pakatan Rakyat (PR) would have to submit more than two names, saying it was the palace's convention on the matter.
Only PAS submitted three names, while PKR and DAP had nominated Dr Wan Azizah as their sole menteri besar candidate to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
