PAS's Bangi representative Mohd Shafie Ngah is Selangor's new second deputy speaker.
His nomination was proposed by Iskandar Abdul Samad (PAS-Chempaka) and seconded by Dr Abdul Rani Osman (PAS-Meru).
Mohd Shafie garnered 28 votes against Ng Swee Lin (DAP-Sekinchan) who polled 14 votes in a secret ballot.
He replaces PKR's Seri Setia assemblyman Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, who resigned in September to take up a position in the state executive council.
The opposition Barisan Nasional abstained from voting.
PAS lost one of its four exco seats when Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali unveiled his new line-up of Selangor exco.
When unveiling his new Selangor exco line-up, Azmin said Nik Nazmi's deputy speaker seat would be given to a representative from the Islamist party.
He had previously denied that the seat reduction was a form of "punishment" for the party’s previous support for his predecessor, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.
