Najib's a leader with peculiar strength, says Adnan

Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob has described Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak as a leader who has a peculiar strength and ability to carry out his tasks excellently.

Adnan said there were not many cabinet ministers who could compete with Najib when he helmed several ministries such as the Defence Ministry and Education Ministry before being appointed prime minister.

"When helming the various ministries, he had demonstrated outstanding achievements. I apologise when I say that there are not many cabinet ministers who could achieve his benchmark," he said.

He said this when delivering a speech at the tahlil session and special prayers in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of Najib's involvement in politics and government administration at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Mosque, in Pekan, Pahang, tonight.

Also present were Najib and Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Adnan said when Najib was the Pahang Menteri Besar from 1982 until 1986, he had brought much changes including the creation of the Pahang Foundation which had assisted many students in the state to continue their studies at a much higher level.

In addition, he said, between 12,000 to 14,000 Pahang-born residents had obtained jobs through the opening of the Gebeng industrial area which was planned by the prime minister then.

He said the opening of the Gebeng industrial area had also attracted more foreign companies to invest in the state and subsequently raised the state's revenue.
