Tan Sri Abu Kassim and Dato Shukri Abdul Want To Stay Longer

Image result for MACC and 1MDB

I  hope the Media people will follow up on that soalan cepu mas that I asked about the AG's statement that RM2.03 Billion had been sent back to Saudi Arabia in August 2013.
  • Where did the AG get this information?
  • Was this part of the MACC's investigation papers that were submitted to him?
  • From the MACC's reactions (wanting the AG to reconsider, they want to appeal to their Special Panel etc) it appears that the MACC did not know that the RM2.3 Billion had been returned in August 2013.
  • IF THIS WAS NOT part of the MACC's investigation papers, then the AG has some serious explaining to do. In the interests of the public, can the AG please clarify.
  • Press, Bar Council,  Town Council, City Council - say something. Please seek to clarify this question as well.
Here is something about the MACC Commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim. Talk is he wanted to take optional retirement soon. He is eligible.

But now he wants to leave earliest at year end 2016.  Because the concern is 'Who will be appointed to replace him?'  Dedicated and patriotic MACC staff wish to see their legacy maintained.  They do not wish to see the independence of the MACC compromised.  Apparently the Hippo commented "Abu nak jatuhkan" the lanun

(Talk is the front runner to replace Abu Kassim  is  one Zul A _ _ _d  from the AG's Chambers.  Is anyone surprised at all? I am not.)

Tough guy Dato Shukri Abdul (No. 3 at the MACC)  also has an optional retirement date coming up in March 2016. But MACC colleagues are asking him also to stay on longer.  If he does he may stay until October 2016.

Here is something else folks. Contrary to what is generally perceived, the Commissioner of the MACC can be replaced any time. Just like AG Ghani Patail was fired from his job.

The MACC Commissioner and the AG are supposed to be independent, legally, in the performance of their duties.  That is a separate matter.

But their appointment and their tenure in office can be determined at any time. There is a simple procedure for that.

From before the four years that I was in the MACC's Advisory Panel (until Feb 2015), the MACC had been trying to get their own Service Commission, which means they can hire and fire their own staff. Meaning they become more independent.  So far this has not been granted by Najib.

Well if the MACC has its own Service Commission then you cannot fire anyone or hire people that you like too much.

Tan Sri Johan Jaafar remains as the Chairman of the Panel Perundingan dan  Pencegahan Rasuah (PPPR)  of which I was a member.  Johan's tenure ends on 25th February.

Of the FIVE independent advisory panels to the MACC,  only three are provided for in the MACC's rule books. Two of the panels (including the PPPR) exist at the discretion of the Minister in charge.

Talk is the PPPR may also be disbanded soon.

This was and still is the most vocal and dynamic advisory panel to the MACC.  Johan Jaafar and the PPPR were outspoken in demanding that the two MACC officers Dato Bahri Zin and Dato Rohaizad Yaakob who were transferred to the PMO be transferred back to the MACC.

To save his own backside Anwar Ibrahim made it his task to ridicule, cast doubt and undermine almost every arm of the government especially the Police, the Judiciary, and the Office of the Public Prosecutor.  Only the fools believed Anwar Ibrahim. He did not succeed.

Now, in Anwar's absence almost the entire gomen machinery has been fully ridiculed and undermined,  not from without but from within.
