In rebuking Salleh over his recent comments on the incident, PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin said the Barisan Nasional (BN) leader should first look into Umno’s internal problems especially in regard to donations and suspicious transfers of funds.
She said while PKR disagreed with the removal of the two assemblymen, the discretion to do so was in the hands of Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
“On the other hand, it also shows that Pakatan Harapan is a coalition that can express opinions freely unlike BN which is only dominated by Umno.”
She said comparing the removal of former Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim was mischievous as the incident and that of the two Penang assemblymen were not similar.
“Khalid was disobeying direct orders from his own party whereas the case in Penang is an injustice towards a coalition partner.”
The Ampang MP said PKR was the driving force and uniting factor behind the then Pakatan Rakyat and now, Pakatan Harapan and that this was something Umno could not deny.
“Obviously, Umno is scared of Pakatan Harapan, as it is strange for a minister to comment on such a small internal state matter.”
“It also shows that Salleh has come down to the level of state politics. Why try to tarnish Pakatan’s image when Umno’s own image is in such bad shape? Salleh should look in his own backyard first.”
Quoting Chinese and Malay proverbs, Zuraida said Salleh should have stayed out of Penang’s internal problems and that the state could resolve their issues without the interference of ministers from other parties.
