WHO IS MAKING A JOKE OF PDRM - IGP OR TONY? KHALID ORDERS PROBE ON MP FOR CALLING HIM 'THIS THUG'
KUALA LUMPUR - The police said today they are investigating Tony Pua for intentional insult intending to breach public peace, after the DAP lawmaker allegedly called Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar a thug for refusing to apologise in the police shooting of Aminulrasyid Amzah.
Khalid told Malay Mail Online that Pua, who is Petaling Jaya Utara MP, that the opposition MP would be investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code that imposes imprisonment for up to two years, or a fine, or both, for the offence of intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of public peace.
“504 Penal Code,” Khalid said in a brief message to the Malay Mail Online.
Khalid, via his Twitter handle @KBAB51, instructed police today to call Pua in for questioning after the lawmaker allegedly tweeted from his @tonypua account: “This thug said 14-year old Aminulrasyid was shot by police because there was dangerous weapons in his car. Now...”
Pua’s tweet was linked to a Malay Mail Online report last Friday that quoted Khalid as saying that he would not apologise to Aminulrasyid’s family, despite the Shah Alam High Court finding Khalid, then Selangor police chief when the 14-year-old was shot dead by police in 2010, guilty of misfeasance in public office.
In the court’s Thursday ruling on Aminulrasyid’s family’s civil lawsuit against the police and government, Khalid was ordered to pay RM100,000 in damages.
In Khalid’s tweet, he ordered the police to investigate Pua for “deliberately twisting facts to confuse the public”.
“PCIRC @PDRMsia. Tweet ini sengaja memutarbelitkan fakta bertujuan mengelirukan Rakyat. Panggil org ini dan Siasat,” Khalid said.
Previously, Khalid had accused the late Aminulrasyid of being a dangerous criminal, claiming that police acted after discovering a machete in the car the 14-year-old was driving.
However, Shah Alam High Court judge Datuk Ahmad Zaidi Ibrahim pointed out that there was no proof to substantiate Khalid’s claim. - Malay Mail
