BN minister Nancy Shukri said she does not interfere with the attorney-general's work.
She added that she is not the de facto law minister as often reported, but is just a Minister in the Prime Minister's Department.
"Outside I have to check with the AG himself. He can engage with the media himself not me," Nancy told reporters in the Parliament lobby today.
She was responding to Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo, who called on her to advise AG Mohamed Apandi Ali to allow legal challenges to his powers to be tried in court.
Nancy said she would not issue such instructions as it would seem as though she is controlling the AG.
She added that while she is in charge of law, she does not deal with the administration of AG's Chambers.
Apandi has been under fire after he cleared Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak of any wrongdoing in the RM2.6 billion donation and RM42 million SRC International cases.
Najib has denied any wrongdoing in the scandals.
The Malaysian Bar has filed for a judicial review of Apandi's decision. -Mkini
