Annuar says statutory declaration a ploy by DAP and Mahathir

Party information chief Annuar Musa predicts Mahathir will soon be alienated by his current allies and Umno will forget him.

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno information chief Annuar Musa has claimed that former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the DAP are behind the statutory declaration endorsing Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah as prime minister.

The Ketereh MP told the Malay Mail Online that Razaleigh, also known as Ku Li, was fully aware of the SD and that it was a ploy to remove Prime Minister Najib Razak for the gain of Mahathir and the DAP.

“I am confident that Ku Li is an experienced politician. He sensed the game that DAP and Tun Mahathir were planning.”

The Umno supreme council member also claimed that Mahathir would soon be alienated by his current allies, and Umno itself would forget him.

Annuar hoped that the failed SD plan would encourage Umno members to oppose the DAP and close ranks among themselves as well as within the Barisan Nasional.

The SD first appeared on DAP MP Liew Chin Tong’s Facebook page earlier this week and Razaleigh was quick to deny his part in it.

The veteran Umno politician said he had no knowledge of the SD.

Another DAP MP, Anthony Loke, yesterday revealed that the SD was a back up plan, should the no-confidence vote against Najib in Parliament fail.
