Debate me in the lock-up, Rafizi tells 1MDB's Arul Kanda

PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli is all set to debate the merits of his accusations of financial impropriety against 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) in the lock-up with the fund's president, Arul Kanda Kandasamy.
"I don't care if they (police) want to remand (me) after this. We (Arul Kanda and I) can debate in the cell and I can find out more information.
"Not the same cell though, I wouldn't want that. Adjacent cells should be okay," Rafizi told reporters after lodging a police report against Arul Kanda and 1MDB at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters today.
Rafizi urged inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar to first take action against Arul Kanda because of the alleged involvement of 1MDB with Armed Forces fund LTAT, before taking him into custody.
On Monday, Rafizi disclosed a document classified under the Official Secrets Act (OSA), which he claimed showed a link between 1MDB and LTAT, and the police have since opened an investigation into the matter.
"I am willing to testify about the OSA investigation that has been opened, but at the same time, I want Khalid to provide his guarantee and answer that the same treatment and investigations will be given to me and Arul Kanda," he said.
Prior to this, Rafizi alleged that 1MDB had failed to pay out an LTAT subsidiary for an air base redevelopment and relocation project, which led to the Armed Forces fund having to fork out its own cash and delay gratuity payments to retirees.
The Pandan MP disclosed the contents of the OSA document after LTAT refused to entertain his query seeking information on how many retirees had to endure a delay in the payment of their gratuity.
Malaysiakini does not possess the OSA document and cannot report on its contents because of legal restrictions.
Yesterday, Khalid said that police are probing to see if the document Rafizi revealed was part of the auditor-general's audit report to the Public Accounts Committee, which is an OSA-protected document, and if so, he said that police will take action.
Commenting further on the matter, Rafizi joked that he wants Arul Kanda to be treated the same as he did when he was arrested last time, reminisicing that he was asked to wear purple lockup clothing without footwear.
"He (Khalid) speedily announced that an investigation paper was opened on me. I want to hear that an investigation paper is also opened on Arul Kanda.
"You (Khalid) want to investigate me under the OSA. I will surrender to you, and give my testimony. I will cooperate fully, but I want to see Arul Kanda there too.
"If I am locked up, without slippers and in purple clothing, I want Arul Kanda too to be in the lockup," he said. -Mkini
