Selangor water management firm Air Selangor has instructed Tenaga Nasional Bhd to speed up repair works for its Bukit Badong substation so normal water services can resume sooner than Dec 24.
It said the works, which started 8am today, are expected to be done by midnight tonight.
The maintenance work has slashed water treatment plant capacity to 50 to 60 percent, affecting about four million users in the Klang Valley.
As such, consumers are also urged to use water prudently to expedite recovery, it said in a statement.
Restoration for areas on higher ground will take longer, while rationing will help speed up recovery, it said.
“We regret the inconvenience caused,” it said.
Earlier. the Selangor government said it instructed TNB to delay its scheduled September repairs to during school holidays in December so it will not impair schoolchildren, especially those taking national examinations.
Menteri Besar Azmin Ali said the state would explore ways to ensure those preparing for Christmas celebrations on Dec 24 would not be inconvenienced.
He said further delays to maintenance would risk breakdown and downtime of up to one month.- Mkini
