PETALING JAYA: Ouch, this is going to hurt.
Come next month, government dental clinics will charge much more for dental services.
According to an internal circular spotted by FMT, tooth extraction will no longer cost RM1, but RM15.
Tooth fillings, which cost RM2, will go up to RM25.
Scaling, which used to cost RM2, will cost RM55.
The circular, dated Jan 26, states that the revised fees for dental services will take effect in March.
Health Minister Dr S Subramaniam, in a statement today, said Malaysians would continue to enjoy highly subsided healthcare.
He said only the medical fees for first and second class ward patients had been revised. This was because there had not been a fee revision for a long time.
Third class patients would continue to receive free medical care.
Subramaniam said the low-income group would continue to receive good healthcare. -FMT
