Refer Jamal to psychiatrist, Zuraida advises police

PKR Women’s chief, in praising police for arresting the Red Shirts leader, hopes it will remind everyone not to take the law into their own hands.

PETALING JAYA: Jamal Yunos’ series of antics, including splashing women with paint and appearing clad only in a towel during a protest, is proof that he needs help, says PKR’s Zuraida Kamaruddin.

The Ampang MP said police should send the Umno leader for a check-up in Tanjung Rambutan to “protect everyone from the threat that he poses”.

Tanjung Rambutan is a common reference to Hospital Bahagia in Ulu Kinta, Perak, well-known for treating mental illness.

Zuraida said Jamal’s arrest for gang robbery yesterday was a reminder that no one should take the law into their own hands.

Police too, she said, must go through the proper procedures when conducting a raid.

Yesterday, the men in blue arrested Jamal, along with nine others, following reports of theft which allegedly took place when he and dozens of youths barged into a gaming centre last month.

Jamal has led a series of raids on gaming centres in the state, in a bid to highlight what he claimed was the Selangor government’s lack of enforcement over illegal gambling outlets.

Yesterday’s arrest is the third time the colourful politician has been arrested. He was arrested in October last year over a Facebook posting, and once again in the hours leading to the Bersih 5 rally in Kuala Lumpur the subsequent month.

No stranger to controversy, Jamal had last month parked 10 beds outside the Selangor secretariat building to highlight what he claimed was a mushrooming of massage parlours in the state.

In December, he went to the Selangor state secretariat building in nothing but a towel, and carrying toiletries, to demand that the security guards open the gates so he could have a shower.

He was protesting the massive water cuts in the Klang Valley during that time.

Later the same month, Jamal and his supporters pelted PKR member Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah, better known as “Ratu Naga”, with eggs, and had paint splashed on her, when she tried to deliver water to his house. -FMT
