KUALA LUMPUR: Mohd Ali Baharom, better known as Ali Tinju, has placed the blame for last night’s scuffle between two local artistes on DAP.
The president of Pertubuhan Pembela Nasib Melayu (Pembela) claimed that Metrowealth Pictures film producer and CEO David Teo was paid by DAP to create a ruckus at the National Transformation 2050 (TN50) dialogue with Prime Minister Najib Razak.
He also accused Teo of being DAP’s stooge in the party’s attempt to embarrass Najib in public.
“I’m sure and I read on Facebook and WhatsApp that there are those who say Teo is DAP’s stooge.
“I want to question Teo’s attendance (at the dialogue). This is because he appears to have been hired by irresponsible politicians like Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Muhyiddin Yassin and maybe by DAP leaders.
“Maybe he was paid, or else he wouldn’t have acted that way.
“In fact, we see Teo as always causing problems for the Malays and being rude to the Malays.”
Ali Tinju was referring to a previous incident where Teo had belittled legendary artiste, the late P Ramlee, saying the actor had died penniless.
He was speaking to reporters after lodging a police report against Teo at the Wangsa Maju police headquarters here today.
Last night, two local artistes were involved in a scuffle at a National Transformation 2050 (TN50) dialogue for the entertainment industry at a hall in Seri Perdana, Putrajaya. It was attended by Najib.
Najib was answering questions from artistes, while standing on a circular raised platform, with director-actor Rosyam Nor acting as moderator for the session.
At one point, Teo took over the mike and criticised Rosyam Nor for allegedly overlooking those seated at the back when it came to be given a chance to speak at the dialogue.
Just then, actor Sulaiman Yassin, more popularly known as Mat Over, strode across the hall and slapped Teo. Security personnel quickly separated the two and led them away before they could come to blows.
Ali Tinju, who was present with his lawyer this afternoon at the police station, urged police to take immediate action against Teo so the popular film producer would “repent” and stop being rude to Najib and the Malays.
He also challenged Teo to sue him and called on the defence ministry to strip Teo of his honorary rank of major in Angkatan Sukarela Persekutuan (Territorial Army).
“If Teo is unhappy with my statement, I ask for him to take this case to court. I’m ready to be taken to court,” said Ali Tinju, adding that he agreed with Mat Over’s move to slap Teo.
“I’m asking Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein to call for an emergency meeting to strip Teo of his honorary rank.
“I’m also requesting for the authorities to ban Teo’s movies so he would repent and avoid repeating the same mistake.”
FMT has contacted Teo and is awaiting his reply. -FMT
