Iskandar: PAS cannot be bought to bring down Selangor gov't

PAS vice-president Iskandar Samad stressed that PAS state assemblypersons in Selangor cannot be bought in an attempt to topple the state government.
"As a senior exco in the Selangor government, I would like to reiterate that PAS exco members and state assemblypersons in Selangor cannot be bought to bring down the state government of the day.
"No amount of money can buy any exco or state assemblypersons so that they will form a new government with Umno," he said in a statement today.
Iskandar drew parallels to the PAS government in Kelantan after the 2008 general election which served its full term despite a razor thin majority.
"When the PAS-led Kelantan government only had a single seat majority, the state government did not fall because none of the PAS state assemblypersons could be bought.
"Therefore, it has been proven that PAS elected representatives have high integrity and will not sacrifice their principles," he said.
Iskandar also defended the current PKR-led Selangor government, stating that the people had benefited from the various welfare policies of the state government.
"It does not make sense to hand the state back to BN and undo all the initiatives that have been rolled out by the current state government.

"The huge mandate given by the people in the 13th general election will not be betrayed," he said.
Iskandar's reiteration came amid rumours that the Selangor government may fall.
This was after the PAS muktamar passed a resolution to sever ties with PKR, although the party's syura council must first confirm the decision.
Without PAS, the PKR-led Selangor government hangs on by the skin of its teeth with 29 seats - the minimum requirement for a simple majority - with 14 DAP assemblypersons, 13 from PKR and two from Parti Amanah Negara.- Mkini
