Learn to take a joke, Umno Youth tells Wanita PKR

FT Umno Youth chief says there would be no more humour if Wanita PKR was in charge after it criticised Tengku Adnan for his remark on women.

PETALING JAYA: Federal Territories (FT) Umno Youth has sprung to the defence of FT Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor over criticism levelled against him following a remark he made about women.

Its chairman Razlan Rafii said PKR’s Wanita wing needs to learn how to take a joke after its chief Zuraida Kamaruddin took Tengku Adnan to task for asking women to “dress shabbily” to avoid harassment.

“If we lived in a world with PKR as our country’s leaders, we would see no more humour in Malaysia,” Razlan said in a statement today.

“In their lives, there is only seriousness and discussions for PKR to achieve their political interests.”

Earlier today, Zuraida had called Tengku Adnan a “pervert” at the 12th PKR Wanita Congress.

“What kind of minister would say that?” she asked in her speech at the event which saw delegates holding placards objecting to the comment by Tengku Adnan, who is popularly known as Ku Nan.

Tengku Adnan, who is also Umno secretary-general, made the remark during a National Transformation 2050 (TN50) forum on May 17 in response to a question from a forum participant who expressed her fear over the current lack of public safety.

Razlan said the wing was being “too tense” and should take a proper look at the video on what  Tengku Adnan said.

“They should look at the clip properly and see whether it was a serious statement or a joke.

“In this life, we have to always be cheerful. If we hold dialogues, there must be jokes too so that they are not boring.

“If we are always tense like Wanita PKR, we will become old very quickly,” he said. -FMT
