Muhyiddin: Funds went to Umno, not my own pockets

Former Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin has denied he had ever personally received funds from the RM2.6 billion claimed to be a donation from a Saudi royalty to Prime Minister Najib Razak .
This follows Umno supreme council member Nazri Abdul Aziz accusing him and former Umno vice-president Shafie Apdal of receiving a bigger slice of the controversial RM2.6 billion.
Shafie yesterday also denied receiving a portion of the said funds.
"This is slander. In the name of Allah, I did not receive a single sen," said Muhyiddin during a Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) ceramah in Kuala Lumpur last night.
"He (Nazri) said Umno received the funds. (Well), they did not go into my pockets," he said.
Muhyiddin pointed out the issue in question was with regard to the funds revealed to be in Najib's personal bank accounts.
He recounted how he had once said he was briefed by former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail on evidence about the funds that had been channeled into Najib's personal accounts.
"Every year the auditor-general will talk about the leakages that amount to between RM20 and RM30 billion.

"If we can administer the country properly, we don't have to implement the GST."
Should Pakatan Harapan become the government, Muhyiddin believes heightened investors' confidence in the country, which would in turn lead to more job opportunities, would lead to an increase in the country's revenue.
Apart from Muhyiddin, Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir who were present at last night's programme also  reiterated that the GST would be abolished should Pakatan Harapan come into power.- Mkini
