BN can do without Jamal's antics, ex-Selangor MB says

Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos is set to execute another show-stealing stunt by selling fish at today's anti-kleptocracy rally organised by Pakatan Harapan.
Such stunts have made Jamal infamous but it is something that former Selangor menteri besar Abu Hassan Omar says BN would prefer not be associated with.
"Speaking truthfully, we can do without (his antics). He has his own way (of doing things). That is up to him.
"Whether it benefits Umno or BN, let society judge, I can't say," Abu Hassan (photo below) told Malaysiakini in an interview on Wednesday.

It would not be the first time leaders in Umno have sought to distance itself from Jamal.
Umno deputy president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had on Oct 6 said that Umno did not sanction Jamal's act of smashing beer bottles outside the Selangor state government office.
The stunt had landed the red-shirts leader in a police lockup for two nights to facilitate investigations for unlawful assembly and being a public nuisance.
When asked if he had any advice for Jamal, Abu Hassan said the Sungai Besar Umno chief should toe the party line.

"He should be like any other division leader, just toe the line and not be too independent.
"He can go very far, he has dynamic leadership and he can control the division which is why we won the Sungai Besar by-election.
"He is committed, but sometimes he is just too much," the former menteri besar said.

Jamal has been warned by the Petaling Jaya City Council and the police not to interfere with the Harapan rally in Padang Timur.
He has threatened to dump wastewater from his fish stall on Petaling Jaya mayor Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain should he be stopped by local council officials from doing so.
Mohd Azizi said Jamal requires a council permit to peddle his wares.
Jamal is expected to be at Padang Timur at 12pm, four hours before the Harapan rally begins.- Mkini
