FIC mulls lawsuit, Rafizi lodges police report

Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) is mulling taking legal action Rafizi Ramli, after the PKR vice-president alleged that the firm established a new company to obscure fact that it did not own one of its hotels in London.
Felda chairperson Shahrir Samad said action needed to be taken as Rafizi's accusations were no small matter.
"Tomorrow FIC will hold a board of directors meeting that so happens will discuss this matter, but not only because of Rafizi's exposé," the Johor Bahru MP said at a press conference in the Parliament media room today.
Rafizi had on Oct 13 claimed that Felda's Grand Plaza Kensington Hotel was owned by a shell company registered in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) named FIC London Hotel (Private) Limited. (Editor's note: Henceforth "BVI FLH")
Rafizi also claimed that BVI FLH was not owned by FIC or Felda.
FIC, together with Shahrir and Razali Ibrahim, a deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department, sought to debunk this at a press conference on Sunday by saying that it did indeed own FLH.
However, Rafizi insisted that the FLH referred to by Felda yesterday was only registered in BVI on the same day he made his exposé about BVI FLH.
He claimed media reports by The Sun and Sinar Harian cited Razali as showing that FLH (Editor's note: Henceforth "Felda FLH") was registered in BVI on Oct 13, 2017.
Razali denied Rafizi's assertions, saying the Oct 13 date on the registration document was to mark when it was certified as a true copy.
Earlier today, the Pandan MP also lodged a police report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters over the ownership of the Grand Plaza Kensington Hotel.
"My discovery shows there is major possibility that the property purchased by Felda for RM330 million was never registered in the name of a company owned by Felda," he said in his police report.- Mkini
