Umno and its 'friendly opposition' approach in Kelantan

Umno, which is in the opposition in Selangor and Penang, may have come out with guns blazing against the two state governments but it is taking a different approach in Kelantan.
Kelantan Umno liaison chief Mustapa Mohamed said while the opposition will point out the PAS-led Kelantan government's weaknesses, it will do so in a civil manner.
"We are one brotherhood - Islam and Malay... We don't want to create anger or conflict.
"But if there are weaknesses, we will raise them," he told journalists in Kota Bharu today.
Mustapa, who is also international trade and industry minister, said this in response to Umno's apparent lack of criticalness against the leadership of Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob.
Instead, Mustapa said Umno has gone to the crowd to gather feedback about the people's discontent against the state government.
The Jeli MP said this information would be used to formulate BN's manifesto for Kelantan, keeping the debate issue-based.
"One is the issue with water supply. There is also no news about the Ladang Rakyat.

"The people also want to know about the revenue problems in Kelantan. We want to know a lot more, including on youths, housing and work issues," he said.
He said the manifesto committee is being led by Mara chairperson Awang Adek Hussin.
"We have a draft that will be ready in a week or two and we'll be improving it, based on the 27-year performance of the PAS government," Mustapa added.- Mkini
