"Op Selamat 12", which focuses on reducing the crime rate and road accidents during the Chinese New Year (CNY) festive season, will be carried out for 16 days from Monday.
Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department director Tajudin Md Isa said the operation would be launched by inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun at the Ulu Bernam (Southbound) Rest and Service Area on the North-South Expressway on Monday.
“As usual, police embark on a new edition of the Op Selamat during festive seasons to reduce road accidents and to ensure that the traffic along the highways are under control,” he told a press conference at the CNY 2018 Crime Awareness Campaign in Kuala Lumpur today.
Tajudin also urged members of the public who planned to leave respective homes during the festive season to fill in the “Balik Kampung Form” which could be obtained from the nearest police stations, Royal Malaysia Police website and via the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol mobile application.
Police require this information for crime prevention during festive seasons.
